In the Tales of Vatan books I usually preface a new chapter with an “In Setting” text. These are excerpts from a number or works that are famous, well-known or widely available in Vatan (mostly Taldyr).
These are the works referenced so far:
- The Encyclopedia Iurraka, edition of 975
- Cyrus Sardinus’s ambitiously titled Vatan Guidebook, which has many volumes
- On Kingship by Selinus IV, ‘The Scholar’, King of Selinus circa 19260 AC
- Excerpts from the notes of Günther Liechtenauer, Weapons Master of the Duchy of Wenland, circa 19870 AC
- The Mysterious Alagariel (volume III) by Thyus Saeedi, Court Historian to Jahan II, Shah of Susahnia, circa 17850 AC
The list will be extended both as new works are referenced in future books and I get a chance to add existing excerpts.
